thanks! What color highlights will show up on BLACK hair? has anyone tried it?
I used to go get my hair done in the salon all the time but it was always around $100-$150 and then I tried out my own highlighting kits and did my own coloring and it works great and I spend under $20!

I just highlighted my hair with blonde blonde streaks and I touched up my dark brown that I didnt want blonde in and then I dyed my blonde highlights pink I decided hot pink wasnt a good color for me so I bought a burgundy red and I dyed over the pink with the red and I love how it came out!

I tried so many bleaching kits from Sally Beauty Supply and they left my hair a orange color not a blonde because my hair is a dark brown and then I found this kit at Wal-mart and it works great! It's called Revlon Frost %26amp; Glow for dark hair and it works great!

I buy all my other hair colors from Sally Beauty Supply like my dark brown and the pink and red. They have a few really cute pinks, reds, purples, burgundy's and you can buy them in the temporary instead of permanent so you can see if you like how it looks and if not the color washes out after a few shampoo's. Black hair with blond chunky highlights looks really cute as well as blonde peek-a-boo highlights under black hair.

Buy some aluminum foil (the kit comes with a cap that you pull the hair through the holes but I don't like using it) Pick the parts of hair you want to be pink and mix the bleaching kit and clip up your other hair and then start from bottom up and place the foil as close and tight to your head and put the bleach on and leave it no more than 1 hour, just follow the directions.

After your done you may want to wait til next day to color your hair with the pink but just follow the directions and color only your blonde highlights... Use a deep condition like Ion Therapy Packets, they work really good and leave your hair soft and silky!

Here is a pic of my bangs I did after the pink with the burgundy color and I also did peek-a-boo highlights under my hair with the burgundy but you can't tell in this pic though... Hope this gives you an idea of how to do it... Good luck!

i have black hair. i went to a professional. they had to do a bleach weave all through out my hair to get the balck out and then they put brown on top on it. unless you get it bleached first it wont show up

you can buy bleach at the store and do it yourself BUT makesure to follow the directions, bleach is scary to work with
Try the L'Oreal kit that is base color and complimenting highlights. They have done the guesswork for you as to what color combinations go well together - very easy to use. Kit is a little pricy (around $25) but compared to a professional, its minimal with nice results.

Good luck
For blonde highlights u have to bleach the chunks first then apply ur desired color....I really recommend to go to a salon especially cuz black hair is really stubborn to get that perfect color...It may take more than one bleaching process.

Go to a beauty school, they are less expensive and we have our instructors right there...I say we cuz im in a beauty school:)
any color if you bleach it first...otherwise , no color, except for when you are in direct light. Then it will just be like ...strands that glimmer whatever color you dyed it.
I probably shouldn't know this because I'm a guy but, your best bet it probably with a frosting kit and then the also sell shampoo that will brighten the blond.
You could do it yourself but first you'd have to bleach it because nothing will show up on black hair. I know because I have black hair and I tried. I think blonde highlights would look sweet or even bright red.
bright blonde chunky highlights will deff show up on black hair iv had it and it looked great

also try red
Yeah, ive tried. Ive found out that dark brown doesnt show up too well and light blonde makes ME look like a skunk!. Maybe a light brown, Auburn (i have) or dirty blonde. ?
i always think black hair that has a kind of red glow to it is cool. Henna die would work well for that i think.
if you want blonde chunks and you have black hair youll need to bleach the places you want blonde which is not good for your hair

try intense red--that would be cool
My hair is black with red streaks and it shows up really good!
You should get royal blue

or

hot pink
White
i think a chestnut color is cute =)
you would look good! ;)
blonde highlights will show up.
